Can I steam clean a memory foam mattress?
No, its not recommend using a steam cleaner on your memory foam mattress. This is because the heat and moisture from the steam cleaner can damage the construction of your mattress and the integrity of the memory foam layer. Using a steam cleaner could also affect your mattress warranty. Its spraying a small amount of the cleaning solution onto the stain or soiled area or the full surface area, being careful not to saturate the mattress, and then patting it with a clean white cloth.
Water is not harmful to organic latex, but strong solvents are not recommended. Gleamers can clean this with a cold water extraction machine but a test patch must be done first to prevent damage and discoloration.
In addition to washing your bedding, you may want to consider cleaning your mattress approximately every 6 months. Check with the mattress manufacturer to find out the best way to keep your mattress clean, as every model has specific care instructions. For most mattresses, users can follow some general guidelines:
Regular Cleaning Steps
To keep your mattress clean, the first step is to remove and wash all the bedding, including sheets, pillowcases, and blankets. If the mattress has a removable cover, you may be able to wash this too.
With the bed free of obstacles, you can use your vacuum’s upholstery attachment to vacuum the surface and sides of the mattress. Blot any stains with a gentle cleanser, followed by a clean cloth dipped in cold water. Be careful not to get the mattress too wet, especially if it’s a memory foam or polyfoam mattress. Having your mattress professionally cleaned every 12 months should keep it clean and germ free.
